  I took in a used vechicle i had recently purchased. As with any used vechicle i took it into a mechanic for a general diagnostic of the key systems, which i specifically asked for, also asking for an oil change. They did the oil change great. To be honest, the inspection you get from mr lube was more comprehensive the job these guys did. Rough estimate on condition of the shocks?, not a clue, the fact all 4 tires were under pressure, not even noticed, the squeeking from the belt, he claimed not to even hear it. The horn which wasnt working, not mentioned(they literally released my vechicle, when it wasnt even legal to drive, thats a pretty major f up), and a week later, while swapping over my tires, the guys at kal tire informed me of a bad oil leak. Finding stuff like that is what i paid him todo!!!! Any issue that was glaringly obivous was addressed, anything that would have taken 5-10 min to analyze was overlooked. To be fair, im sure they're fine doing anything simple that you directly ask them to. However, having worked in the trades for years, i can tell a "good enough" tradespersons when i see one. Tasks get approached with tunnel vision, and a philosophy of preventative maintence is exchanged for the more profitable philosophy of reactive maintenance.
